Bruce Peil

Biography

Bruce Peil was born and raised in Oklahoma and now resides in East Texas. He is a signature member of the Oil Painters of America, and is the co-founder and signature member of the Outdoor Painters Society. His paintings are in many corporate and private collections and he is widely recognized for his landscape paintings of the American West. “There is a wide variety of subject matter that excites me. Whether it is a majestic mountain scene or the more simple pastoral scenes in the area where we live, it’s that fleeting moment in time that I try most to capture in my paintings. I want the viewer to feel as though they are sharing that moment in time with the artist.”

He travels to teach workshops and has also started teaching monthly workshops at his studio in Athens, TX. where he and his wife operate a Bed and Breakfast / Artist Retreat.

Bruce is represented in galleries across the country and his work has been included in such shows as the Oil Painters of America, The Albuquerque Museum miniature show, The Gilcrease Museum miniature show, Arts for the Parks Top 100, Settlers West Gallery, and many others.

He has been featured in such books and magazines as Art of the American West, Rockport Publishers, Art Talk, Southwest Art Magazine, and The Artist’s Magazine.
